Can I start as a complete beginner?
Yes, of course. Many of my students start completely from scratch, without any prior experience with the guitar. In the first lessons, we work on the basics: how to hold the instrument, how to produce a beautiful sound, and the first chords or simple exercises.
The goal is for you to develop a clear technical and musical foundation from the start, so that you can progress with confidence without picking up bad habits.
Do I need to have any experience to take guitar lessons?
No, that is not necessary. The lessons are tailored to your level, whether you are a beginner or already have some experience.
If you have played guitar before, we will assess your current level in the first lesson and determine what we can work on further.
How does a trial lesson work?
The trial lesson is a first session where we get to know each other and where you can experience how I teach.
During the lesson:
we talk about your experience and your musical goals
we check your level (if you have played before)
we start with a few exercises or musical ideas
The goal is for you to get a good idea of the way of working during the lessons, so that you can calmly decide whether you want to continue.
How long does a guitar lesson last?
There are two options: 30 and 60 minutes. I always recommend 60-minute lessons. This provides sufficient time to work at a relaxed pace on various aspects: technique, repertoire, musicality, and questions that arise during the lesson.
It is also an ideal duration to concentrate well and get the most out of the lesson.
How much do I need to practice to make progress?
You don't need to practice for hours every day to make progress. Consistency is more important than long practice sessions.
With 15–30 minutes of practice per day, you can already make clear progress if you work in a focused manner. During the lessons, I always explain what and how best to practice, so that your study time is as efficient as possible.
How long does it take before I can play my first song?
That depends on the student and the time you spend practicing. However, many beginners can play simple music or short pieces within just a few weeks.
From the start, I try to combine technical exercises with music, so that learning remains motivating and always has a musical purpose.
Do I need to bring my own guitar?
Yes, it is recommended to have your own guitar so that you can practice at home as well.
If you don't have a guitar yet, I can advise you on which instrument is suitable for beginners, depending on your budget and the style of music you want to play.
Which music styles can I learn?
My training is in classical guitar and flamenco, but the lessons are aimed at developing a strong technical and musical foundation that allows you to explore various styles.
Depending on your interests, we can work on, for example:
classical guitar
flamenco
popular music
accompaniment with chords
The most important thing is that we choose repertoire that motivates you and helps you make progress.
Do you also teach adults?
Yes. Many of my students are adults who are learning to play guitar for the first time or who are picking up the guitar again after a long time.
The lessons are tailored to the pace and goals of each student, in a relaxed and motivating learning environment.
Am I too old to learn to play the guitar?
Absolutely not. There is no age limit to learn music.
Many adults make good progress precisely because they have more patience, discipline, and motivation than when they were younger. The most important thing is that you enjoy the learning process.
How much does a guitar lesson cost?
The price of the lessons depends on the format and frequency of the lessons.
If you would like more information about prices and availability, please contact me. I would be happy to tell you about the possibilities.
What makes your guitar lessons different?
My lessons combine academic training, professional stage experience, and a clear pedagogical approach.
After studying guitar at the conservatory in Spain and completing my master's at Codarts Rotterdam, I have developed a teaching method that combines three important elements:
a solid technique
musicality
visible and measurable progress
Every student receives personal guidance and a customized learning plan, so that you can make progress in an efficient and motivating way.
