About the Guitar Lessons

Professional Guitar Lessons in Rotterdam with Structure and Result

Flamenco: more than music

Flamenco has always been a form of communication for me, not just a musical style.

I was fortunate to grow up in an environment and at a time when music was part of everyday life. From the age of about ten, almost every weekend I would take out my guitar to accompany my uncles while they sang, or to play together with some of my cousins. Music was not something that was studied in isolation; it was simply something that happened naturally around us.

Over time, I came to understand that this natural way of relating to the instrument makes a real difference. It is not only about practicing for many hours, but also about understanding the codes, the language and the intention of the music.

That is the experience I try to pass on in my lessons: not only learning technique, but learning to understand the music from within.

More than 20 years of experience

In addition to my official education, I have been playing guitar for more than 20 years. In all these years I have experienced everything: periods when I got stuck and moments of frustration. It is precisely through that process of trial and error that I learned how the guitar really works and how to make progress faster.

In my guitar lessons I combine two worlds:

Who Are These Guitar Lessons For?

My guitar lessons in Rotterdam are intended for people who really want to learn to understand music: from beginners to guitarists with experience who want to delve further into technique, rhythm and musicality.

Do you want to start playing guitar?

If you are a beginner and not sure where to start, you will learn the right basics step by step: technique, rhythm and musicality, so that you can quickly play your first songs with confidence.

Do you feel like you're stuck with guitar?

Many guitarists know a few chords or songs, but feel like they're not really improving. In the lessons we work on technique, sound control and rhythm, so that your playing becomes more stable, expressive and more musical.

Do you want to understand the language of flamenco?

Flamenco is not just a guitar style, but a musical language with its own rhythms and codes. You will not only learn techniques, but also compas, guidance and musical interaction.

Do you play a different style and want to enrich your technique?

Techniques from the Spanish and flamenco guitar — such as rasgueado, picado and rhythmic precision — help guitarists of each style to develop more control, speed and dynamics.

Do you want to learn guitar as a hobby?

Playing the guitar can also be a way to relax, express yourself, and enjoy music. With clear guidance, you can progress at your own pace and play songs that you really like.

Whatever your level, the goal is the same: that you have fun playing and feel real progress on the guitar.

How Do the Lessons Work?

First lessons – technique and mini-compositions

In the first lessons, you will get to work on mini-compositions and musical exercises that I have collected and developed over years of experience as a guitarist and teacher. These pieces are designed so that you can improve your technique while playing real music, while always staying motivated.

Every composition is designed with a clear goal: practicing a specific technique, discovering chord combinations, or achieving a musical objective.

Expanding the repertoire and more complex pieces

As your technique consolidates (usually after a few weeks of regular practice), you can expand your repertoire and play more complete pieces.

At this point, you will have already built up a repertoire of mini-compositions in various styles and rhythms:

  • Practicing specific techniques

  • Discovering chord combinations

  • Achieving musical goals

  • Different styles and rhythms

This way, you stay motivated and expand your arsenal of skills to play guitar with more confidence and creativity. This prepares you to tackle more complex and challenging repertoire.
